My Story
Hello and welcome. I’m Betty-Jo, the proud owner of Betty-Jo Interior Designs.
With over 18 years in the building and design industry, my passion lies in sharing my knowledge and experience with clients to help them create spaces that feel both beautiful and purposeful. I love designing homes that have soul—environments that inspire and support the people who live in them.
Interior design, to me, is more than aesthetics. It’s intuition, logic, and attention to detail coming together to create a space that feels right. My purpose is simple: when you step into your completed project, I want you to feel a sense of calm, clarity, and balance.
Putting my “why” into words hasn’t always been easy. But after working on countless homes and witnessing thousands of dreams come to life, I’ve realised that my ability to guide people through the process comes from a blend of practical experience and something deeper. What I once saw as attention to detail is actually intuition—something I’ve cultivated through mindfulness and personal growth over the years.
A pivotal moment came during my 2018 rural design tour. After a life-changing interaction with a family in Far North Queensland, I returned home and said to a friend: “I want to create better lives, not just beautiful homes.”
Since then, I’ve noticed a pattern—goosebumps, deep conversations, and the sense that I’m supporting more than just a renovation. I’m helping people feel truly at home.
The tour itself was born from my deep connection to rural life and a love of country homes. I live in a beautiful Queenslander built by my great-grandparents in the early 1900s. Having grown up on the farm, I understand the values and lifestyle of my rural clients. I now work on homes and businesses across Queensland and beyond.
In 2019, I designed a wellness room for a large organisation and began work on a rural health retreat—projects that allowed me to blend interior design with the energetic principles of Feng Shui. I’ve found immense joy in helping people create healthy, healing, and supportive spaces—especially in the wellness and retreat space, which continues to call me.
This naturally evolved into the creation of The Environmental Alchemist—a sister business where I offer Traditional Feng Shui, space clearing, and energy alignment services. Through this work, I support clients in creating more harmony not just in their homes, but in their lives.
People are often unsure when to engage an interior designer. My role starts at the very beginning—offering clarity on floor plans and design decisions before construction begins. I bring a practical, experienced eye to every stage of the project, helping eliminate confusion, offer clear direction, and work collaboratively with the building team.
